I have been so lucky to photograph a lot of beautiful people and places but photographing horses has always been something near and dear to my heart. I’ve been a lover of horses for most of my life. I own two beautiful rescue horses, one of which I ride and show on a regular basis. This last year I’ve been spending a lot more time photographing and expanding my business into more equine photography and I’m just loving it! Christina, the owner of Old Oaks Gypsy Vanners, invited me out to photograph her beautiful herd of Gypsy Vanners this winter! The scene was just perfect to capture these majestic creatures galloping about in the fresh powder.
First up was the beautiful Chief, an LP Gypsy Vanner with Appaloosa coloring. While Gypsies are better known for their laid back, puppy dog personalities, Chief still gave us some beautiful action shots! His long, flowing mane and full feathers made for some beautiful movement in the photos. He wasn’t that enthusiastic about having to work so hard, he was a good sport and couldn’t wait to get back to eating his dinner.
Next up were the mares, Star and Scarlett, along with the babies and minis. While this group of little ones may all look like babies, there is also a mini Gypsy Vanner in there! I never knew such a thing existed but how cute! They all enjoyed a good gallop in the fresh snow, while Miss Scarlett had a great time showing off her beauty. She was quite the camera hog!
I’m so appreciative of the time I got to spend with these beauties. I learned so much about their breed and really enjoyed capturing some beautiful photos to share with you! I cannot wait to photograph them all again! Enjoy!
